School Guidance Counselor
Hello there! I’m Mrs. Jennifer Garrido, the School Counselor for the Patricia M. Noonan Elementary School, grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. It is my pleasure to serve your children and families! A significant portion of my position is in presenting lessons which help develop the social emotional needs and skills of the students. I address these needs through classroom time, small group sessions, and individual sessions, utilizing the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) framework throughout the school year.
How did I get here? I spent the first twenty-eight years of my career as a Special Education teacher here in Jersey City, and now I proudly continue to advocate for the children and families in my role as School Counselor. I truly believe that each of our students has the potential to succeed through high expectations and positive relationships, and it is our job as a school to help students reach and exceed their capabilities. My goal is to assist the children to grow into kind and confident individuals who have a hand in making our community a strong, loving and inclusive place.
